November 2014 Really?

Standard

Where did the year go? I haven’t been here for a whole stinkin’ full year? Life has changed. That.Is.True.Good changes and hard changes. We made health changes with the introduction of celiac disease coming into my husband’s life May 2014. We knew something was wrong but it took months to discover what. Basically, no gluten in our diet! learning to bake differently is a challenge and having it taste good another! All is getting much better 6 months into it now.

I have been sewing like crazy on my new quilting machine and loving it. I have been keeping an eye out for a new sewing machine with ‘bells and whistles”. I have a jar of saving to grow, so some day I will be getting that new machine!

I’m ready for the holidays this year, Thanksgiving is just around the corner and the house is decorated, our son will be home for the holidays before transferring to a new college. A brief time for all of us to be together before January hits.

This Saturday, we are to get snow, that being tomorrow….maybe I will return to show pictures of it….

peach cobbler in the oven, a dinner to prepare and sewing is calling my name (so is house cleaning).

Calicocat checking out!

Day 3 March 20th of Spring Break

Standard

Today is a little cooler, news is telling u we have a chance of rain and snow starting tonight and Thursday. I just started thinking SPRING since today IS the first day of spring   😉

I painted my nails grabbed the flip flop and a T-shirt….now may be back to fall clothes for a bit longer? We shall see what really happens. I forgot to take pictures of our outing, but K and I went to the Mall today for a pretzel, we ran into friends (my friends) we sat with them. We ate and chatted for a bit then K and I went on our way to look for shoes (for her).

Dressy shoes…. heels!  no luck this time around. RATS!  Next, fabric ( how could I pass up a fabric store when I have to walk right by one?) NOT gonna happen if I can help it…. we went in, found fabric for the backing of son C’s quilt, found fabric to make a bag and then we brain stormed to make K a sling purse, we are on the hunt for the pattern (free one we hope).

So, no real pictures of us,  😀 Going to make dinner now…

Looked at making a surprise quilt with a friend ( will only be calling it that until it is finished) Had a police officer in the neighborhood this afternoon, do not know what he was doing but that is never an exciting thing to see an officer going into your neighbor’s back yards, 3 different yards. What was he looking for? Will the newspaper tell me tomorrow?
1363823781952Recipe: Chicken breast, bacon, brown sugar and chili powder (mix what you think you will need and make as spicy as you like). Heat oven to 350*F. Cut chicken , wrap bacon around it, coat with brown sugar/chili mixture; put on cookie sheet (I sprayed mine with cooking spray just in case they stuck) Bake 30-35  minutes. Recipe from Facebook  MyFridgeFood.com

Fred and K went to the YMCA for some fun! I cleared the kitchen, now to do some sewing! Daughter M’s afghan is FINISHED! #5 is now marked off the list (Done on Wednesday). So ended the 3rd day of break with a basketball game and The Fellowship of the Rings!

Day 2 Spring Break

Standard

Woke up to a cloudy morning, 32* so far today, I have full day planned! I am going to do all I can to get ALL of it done. I live a simple life of a mom, no flash but that is alright with me. I am healthy. My kids and grand-kids and husband and parents are healthy! I will take the simple life with good health. here we go with our day….

Starting over on my nails, had to do ‘nail repair’ one was breaking way to deep and it would have hurt to trim it so I got out my super glue and gauze. I cut a tiny piece of gauze first, laid it aside while applying a drop of super glue to both sides of my broken nail then laid the gauze on top of the glue. I let it dry really well, then ‘sanded’ the rough edges and top off to make a smooth nail, applied my nail strengthener and polish.

K, did her school work, then went to visit a friend this afternoon of spring beak. I worked on editing and buying senior pictures of  son C. Now to buy announcements tomorrow. We watched the Hobbit tonight at home  and had popcorn while drinking sweet tea. I had to work on the afghan and do some much needed meal planning.

And that was our Day #2….oh, I did walk for 30 minutes! I plan to keep telling you that one so I keep myself accountable, it’s more for me than YOU! So, I am now working on 2 items on my 2013 bucket list, weight loss/eat healthy and my daughter’s afghan! good-night, it is 1:00 am  for me.

Behold, a Saturday at home sweet home

Standard

What does this day hold? Our son is off to the near by college, about 40 minutes drive, to try for a scholarship with his clarinet. I do not think he will know the results today.

Our long 3 hour drive to basketball games were cancelled yesterday, due to the large amount of snow (heard that Hays had 17″) now I have a Saturday to clean and do some much desired sewing! I plan to come back and fill you in on what happened to my day!

update #1 eating chili and cornbread and looking at blogs; then checking out a tutorial on machine quilting….sun is out but it’s only 19* 🙂

update #2 {again} I did this and can’t find it {sad face for sure} Caleb did well with his clarinet!!

had a great time chatting, sewing and laughing with friends this afternoon. finished c’s quilt top, cut some more 2.5″ squares.

Had a nice evening with hubby and popcorn, talking basketball tournament (while I was sewing) Here’s a pic of the quilt we designed:

C told me the colors and the block shapes. Fred and I did the math and figured the yardage, Oh, now to buy backing!
